Marie Stuart Society Signs

These signs have drawn the attention of passersby, and many a curious soul will wander into the courtyard, though few realise that Deans Court is now a University hall of residence.

Photographs kindly provided by David Jones.

Sir George Douglas of Lochleven
1550-c.1600

This design was used in the creation of a new shield for Deans Court residents. Sir George Douglas and his connections to Mary, Queen of Scots, are but one of the many ties that Deans Court has with the various royal  houses.

This sign may be found mounted on the wall of the Roundel. Although no longer part of Deans Court, the Roundel was originally part of the buildings and lands that comprised the original Archdeacons Inns. In keeping with the ecclesiastical origins of the buildings, the Roundel is now the home of the Divinity School.
